Subject: 15.1463 Trivia on Quadrilogy and Tetralogy
Comment: Re: SHK 15.1463 Trivia on Quadrilogy and Tetralogy
I challenged my movie provider on this very point, and they said that
the film co packaging the sale felt that it was 'four separate films
with a connecting theme'. When I said erm, OK, yes I get that, so? They
said the company really wanted it to stand out from the usual meaning of
the word 'tetralogy'. It was like a conversation from The Simpsons or
Malcolm in the Middle!!
So a neologism to brand the sequence was born. Who said advertisers
aren't the new lexicographers?
Help! Generations of kids will now never know either the time-honoured
concept nor its correct spelling.
O tempora O mores. .
