Re: 15.1325 (Weiss, L.)

"[...]And all along I thought the Labour Party was socialist.[...]"

Just my little piece of leering satire on "scurvy politicians" and my
gaunt reflections on the "inky blots and rotten parchment bonds"of the
Torygraph.

The current UK government comprises mainly the New Labour Party, which
is not the Labour Party, as the Beast of Balsover, frequently laments.
(Consult him for the whole nine yards; he frequently dies pronouncing it.)

In a text for the "Literacy Hour" now obliga-Tory (oops!) in UK schools
(which I read during my own literacy hour this morning) William
Shakespeare has three entries and Benjamin Zephaniah four. So that's
that wrapped up then.

"Words? Why he could almost make 'em talk" (Poem for a Dead Poet. Roger
McGough)

Not under Blair they're not. He's moved the party way to the center and
they have officially renounced Clause 4, the part of the Labour charter
that pledges them to public ownership of the basic economy. That's why
the Labour left is so angry with him -- that and Iraq, of course.

Arthur Lindley
