Subject: Shakespeare Monologues for Class or Audition
Students and other performers often ask me for advice on monologues for
auditions or for class use and I do my best to supply suggestions. When
I was in Stratford last summer I found in the RSC shop the best book I
had ever seen on Shakespeare monologues. It is entitled Speak the
Speech, it is by Silverbush and Plotkin and is published by Faber. The
price was a bit high for my travel-fellowship budget, but it has now
been remaindered and I recommend it to anyone who is looking, or may
ever be looking, for a classic monologue and some really useful advice
on how to perform it.
It is available by mail from www.hamiltonbooks.com and the inventory
number is 4049039. They want $9.95, marked down from $30 +.
