In SHK 16.0051 Terence Hawkes urges Eliot's memorable, "'Hamlet' isn't
poetry while it's going on: it's poetry after it's over."
Eliot's remark employs a sort of bed-trick: the randy copula "is" has
slipped in to do the duty of "seems".
