Subject: Announcement: A New Series of Unfortunate Events

Dear SHAKSPEReans:

I feel as though Lemony Snicket should start a whole new series of
Unfortunate Events books about the past two and a half years of my life,
compared to me the Baudelaire orphans have it so easy.

Just when I start to get on top of things after my last tragic event, I
had another unfortunate event.

We've had bad weather on the East Coast, lots of snow last Thursday and
Friday, schools closed, Washington, DC, shut down because the snow was
more than an inch. Friday evening, however, was warm, snow was melting,
lots of mud and wetness everywhere.

Saturday morning while walking the dog down my driveway to pick up the
paper, I slipped on black ice, heard a loud snap and saw my leg turn
close to 180 degrees from normal. I pulled myself back into the house,
called to Rebecca, my amazing eleven year old, and then after splinting
off to the hospital - Becca loved riding shot gun with the siren blaring.

I broke my lower right leg in two places, had surgery to put in plates
on Sunday, got out of the hospital late Tuesday, won't be able to drive
for at least two months, and am trying to figure out how to getting
along with the next challenges to my very eventful life.

I am adapting to crutches, getting more stable and confident by the day.

I am returning to SHAKSPER and will edit at the rate that time and pain
will allow me.

Literary agents may reply to discuss marketing strategies for my life
story, but I would appreciate all others to hold off e-mailing; I have
enough e-mail to keep me busy for some time to come.

Hardy
