Subject: Update on Shakespeare in Stratford (UK) 2005 course
This is a pricing update for the course announced earlier: Shakespeare
in Stratford (UK) 2005, an offering through the Shakespeare Birthplace
Trust, Shakespeare Institute and Royal Shakespeare Theater. Please feel
free to share this information with colleagues.
I am now accepting registrations for this summer's course to be held at
Stratford-upon-Avon from Sunday, 3 July 2005 to Saturday, 9 July 2005
(arrive 3 Jul, depart 9 Jul). If you contact me at
For a full course of 15 participants, the price per participant is USD960.
For more than 10 but fewer than 15, the price is USD1285.
Both prices include housing (double occupancy), breakfast each morning,
a group dinner and drinks get-together during the week, all theater
tickets, course costs, including three actor discussion sessions and a
wigs/makeup class, a backstage tour, and privileges (and time) in both
the Shakespeare Trust and Shakespeare Institute libraries.
The week is booked as follows:
Sunday 3 July: Arrival and drinks get-together
Monday 4 July 7:30 A New Way to Please You (Swan Theater)
Tuesday 5 July 7:30 A Midsummer Night's Dream (Royal Shakespeare Theater)
Wednesday 6 July 7:30 Twelfth Night (Royal Shakespeare Theater)
Thursday 7 July 1:00 The American Pilot (TOP); group dinner in evening
Friday 8 July 7:30 Sir Thomas More (Swan Theater)
Saturday 9 July: closing sessions until noon; departure
If you are interested, I'm asking you to commit now to participating in
this wonderful program. In order to reserve your space, I will need a
USD500 down payment (check made out to Shakespeare: Text and Theater). I
can take up to but no more than 15 people, including myself. If you
would like to go, send me your deposit. Indicate with the check whether
you are committing regardless of which of the two prices the program
ultimately costs, or whether you can commit ONLY if the group makes the
full 15, thus the lower cost for everyone. If there are people who
cannot go unless we get the full 15, then I guarantee a full refund to
those people. We will be able to go under the following two circumstances:
EITHER: we get 15 people
OR: we get at least 11 people who wish to go even at the cost of USD 325
I will register participants in the order in which I receive the deposit
checks; the first 15 requests will be honored, and I will create a
waiting list in case someone has to withdraw.
The USD500 deposit is due by Friday, April 8, 2005.
The deposit is wholly refundable if 1) We don't get at least 11
participants, or 2) You indicate you can only go if we get 15
participants and we don't.
The balance will be due by June 1, 2005.
Checks can be made out to Shakespeare: Text and Theater and mailed to
