Subject: Circumcision

For an informed examination of circumcision in the Renaissance, please
see Julia Reinhard Lupton's forthcoming _Citizen Saints: Shakespeare and
Political Theology_ (Chicago 2005), which asks, in part, "how did
circumcision operate as both a marker of ethnicity and a means of
conversion and civic naturalization?"
