To Sarah Cohen on "swelling" metaphors:

Master wordwright that he is, Shakespeare seldom restricts himself to
solitary meanings for his thematic lexicon. Myriad Man's fertile
imagination yields a boundless harvest for amateurs and critics alike.
The poet Peter Dale aptly describes this quality of his as "this
intoxication with the mystery of language's power to live many lives in
the body of a single line."
