State University, "The Intolerability of Catholics in Early Modern
England" Sponsored also by the English Department. Introduced by Dayton

3 PM, Connolly House, Professor Marotti is the author of Catholicism and
Anti-Catholicism in Early Modern English Texts (ed.), also Manuscript,
Print, and the English Renaissance Lyric, also John Donne, Coterie Poet,
and most recently Religious Ideology and Cultural Fantasy: Catholic and
Anti-Catholic Discourses in Early Modern England. He is a renowned
scholar in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century English literature, and
one of the pioneers of a new understanding of the relation of Literature
and religious culture in the early modern period
