SHAKSPER readers might like to know that the case of the bogus Earl of 
Buckingham continues to exercise the English courts.  He was apparently 
inspired by the fraud in The Day of the Jackal, but the Guardian 
letters' page today found a deeper resonance for its heading: 
"High-Reaching Buckingham".  Others, however, are doing his 
circumspection for him ...
