Subject: Clocks and Bells
Greetings Colleagues,
In relation to some current research, I am seeking suggestions for
references about clocks/bells that may have sounded on the hour during
the latter Elizabethan and/or in the Jacobean periods. Of particular
interest are such time-signifying chimes as may have been audible near
the places where Shakespeare and his players would have performed (e.g.,
from Southwark Cathedral, in the vicinity of the Inns of Court, etc.).
Responses off-list are most welcome.
With thanks,
Don Weingust
