Subject: Reviews of Octogenarian Alvin Epstein's LEAR
The two big Boston papers have weighed in with reviews of Lear. Both
praise the leading performance, but there is some disagreement about the
support and direction.
The weekly papers will come out on Thursday.
IMHO this is one of the best of the 8-10 productions of Lear I have
seen. It has been a privilege to see Epstein at the ART over the
years, and Allyn Burrows is an actor I would walk a mile to hear read
the telephone book. He was a disappointing Angelo in M4M at Shakespeare
& Co. about a decade ago-- that's a killer, Angelo! --- but brilliant
in dozens of other Shakespearean roles, including Kent in this production.
