Subject: 	Largest Number of Roles/Characters

Listmembers:

As I am reading Bartholomew Fair and Chaste Maid in Cheapside this week, 
I am wondering which Shakespeare play has the largest number of distinct 
roles/characters. I suppose it may be hard to be precise with numbers 
with crowd scenes, but is there a reasonable answer to this question? 
Both the Jonson and the Middleton plays exceed 40 distinguishable roles.

By the way, is there any obscure play that exceeds all others prior to 1642?
