Subject: A Final Reminder: British Academy Shakespeare Lecture
The Faculty of Humanities at De Montfort University is pleased to host
the British Academy Shakespeare Lecture:
Staging Matters: Shakespeare, the Director, and the Theatre Historian By
Alan Dessen, Professor of English at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill.
Professor Dessen's lecture will look at the role of theatre history in
the production of Shakespeare's plays, particularly at London's Bankside
Globe. Professor Dessen is the author of eight books including four for
Cambridge University Press. Since 1975 he has served on the Editorial
Board of Studies in Philology and is currently the Co-editor of the
"Shakespeare Performed" section of Shakespeare Quarterly. From 1994 to
2001 he was the Director of ACTER (A Centre for Theatre, Education and
Research). Alan Dessen, Professor of English at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill.
