Subject: 16.1326 Old Fat Hamlet?
Comment: Re: SHK 16.1326 Old Fat Hamlet?

The report I saw said 14 stn (238 lbs), but I can't find the source.

I have long suspected that the prince was originally written as a
twentyish young man and the references to Hamlet's 30 year age in Act V
(and maybe Gertrude's "fat and scant of breath") were afterthoughts
added to quell the laughter.
