I'm afraid it's not only the women who don't like the aggressive
loquacity (aka Florence Amit's 'incivility and radical confrontation')
that is all too common on shaksper. I wish the editor would find it
compatible with this country's wonderful First Amendment rights to say
from time: "enough already". Am I the only one would welcome this"

Florence Amit writes, "It is not because they are unequipped to deal
with questions of interpretation or because they do not fancy literature
that they have left this field to the men. It is because what
characterizes this forum is incivility and radical confrontation... So
where do polite, tolerate women find a discussion place? They do not as
long as they remain true to the standards that they typify."

I will be polite, just as my mother raised me. On behalf of Hardy, who
surely can speak for himself, but as a member I will politely say, I
take umbrage at the suggestion of "incivility and radical confrontation"
on this forum. Perhaps the women are on summer break at the beach, or
having those mud baths at spas. But then again, they might be fashioning
coats of armor in the honored tradition of Iron Lady Thatcher. Could be
they are having their nails sharpened in one of them *dame salons.*
