Shakespeare: Call for Reviews

A major new refereed journal, Shakespeare, is being launched by
Routledge this September and we are currently inviting people to submit
theatre reviews for future issues.

We are looking for reviews of 1500-3000 words in length which make a
substantial critical analysis of a recent performance of a play either
by Shakespeare or related to his works (we will consider reviews of a
cluster of productions). Of particular interest to us are performances
which make contemporary and innovative engagements with Shakespeare
especially by non-mainstream companies. We are also interested in other
engagements with Shakespeare in performance (e.g. performance log books,
position papers, rehearsal methods, theories etc.) and we are keen to
involve practitioners directly in the journal (whether through
interviews, practice-based research pieces, manifesto statements etc.).
If you wish to propose a review of a production that you have not yet
seen, we can usually arrange press tickets.

articles on Shakespeare in performance and I will be very happy to
discuss this with anyone interested. A seperate call for papers for this
will be issued but we are accepting essays for consideration now.

More information about the journal and the British Shakespeare
Association can be found at www.britishshakepeare.ws

Best wishes
