Subject: New Welcome to SHAKSPER Message
When you first joined this list, you automatically received a welcome
message that introduced you to the conference and provided you with
instructions for downloading some of the recent discussions and

Subject: Welcome to SHAKSPER: The Global Electronic Shakespeare Conference
Welcome, as of today, you have been added to SHAKSPER, The Electronic
Shakespeare Conference, under the user-id to which this message has been
SHAKSPER is an edited and moderated academic list that enables ongoing
discussion of all things Shakespearean. As the list's moderator, I only
post messages that I believe are of interest to the academic Shakespeare
community. There are no restrictions on membership to SHAKSPER;
significant questions and comments from actors, directors, or any member
of list are welcome. The source of the post is not the issue; the issue
is its relevance to the broad scope of academic interests in Shakespeare
studies. For more information about this policy, see
<http://www.shaksper.net/archives/2006/0000.html>. Also, I encourage
members to limit their submissions to a few per week and not more than
one a day, reserving the right to distribute submissions as I see fit.
If you are joining SHAKSPER for the first time, you should begin by

is by visiting the SHAKSPER web site at www.shaksper.net and having a
look at some of the past discussions and resources available to you,
including a very powerful search engine that enables you to query the
entire SHAKSPER archives since the list's inception in 1990. You should
also send the following list of one-line commands to
GET LISTSERV COMMANDS
GET SHAKSPER ANNOUNCE
GET SHAKSPER NETIQUET
GET SHAKSPER LOG0603A
GET SHAKSPER LOG0603B
In return, you will receive the following introductory files:
1. A brief list of LISTSERV commands for SHAKSPER.
2. The SHAKSPER Announcement to share with others who may be
interested in joining SHAKSPER.
3. A message from me to the list discussing issues of netiquette.
4. A number of recent logbooks of SHAKSPER. These logs will give
you a sense of the sort of discourse that takes place on
SHAKSPER and the direction that discussion threads often
These files will arrive as E-MAIL and can be retrieved from the SHAKSPER
file server at any time should you ever require updated or additional
copies (see LISTSERV COMMANDS for further information about the file
server and its use.) The files may also be read at the SHAKSPER website
-- www.shaksper.net -- should you choose to do so.
If you have questions, please contact me.
Once again, welcome to SHAKSPER!
