I agree with Ivan that this example of Open Access dissemination is to
be welcomed. Unfortunately, the publisher has put up a needless barrier
to the proper use of this resource by making each page of the book be a
separate web-page and providing no easy way to download a whole volume
as a single file.
That sort of daft obstacle gets my dander up, so using the Unix program
WGET I hoovered up the whole website, which gave me the 1500 or so GIF
files (one per page) that are the substance of what's being offered.
These I made in TIFF files that I bundled into two PDFs, one per volume.
You may freely download them at:
You can also have them as ZIPped-up bundles of TIFFs:
Naturally, as it's a big book these are big files (50 to 150MB). It's
worth knowing that images for four pages in volume two (pages 181, 182,
333, and 334) are missing from the publisher's website and that some
other pages on the site are blank (whether because a defective copy was
used, or because the digitization went awry, it's impossible to tell).
