Subject: Caracalla
I don't think I've seen any mention of "a new play by George Chapman, in
his hand" called "Caracalla" that was announced in TLS, 31 March 2006.
The article is by Brandon Centerwall, a graduate student at University
of Washington.
The play appears in a manuscript that now belongs to the British
Library. Centerwall claims that the handwriting and style are Chapman's,
and he dates the play to "some time during the years 1588-1594."
A new Elizabethan play is a rare find, especially one by a playwright as
prominent as Chapman. This would be his first play.
