Subject: Sir John in Love
My daughter is in one of the choirs which presented selections from
Ralph Vaughan Williams' opera _Sir John in Love_ at The Harker School
here in San Jose, California recently. It was great fun to see 37 teens
(a 20 member women's choir, and a 17 member men's choir) having such a
good time with the music and the story.
The high point for me was after Mistresses Ford, Page, and Quickly
compared their letters from Falstaff and found them to be the same, and
then the entire women's choir processed in reading identical letters of
their own from Sir John. Their gleeful plotting to throw him into the
river in a basket of dirty laundry was a treat.
