Subject: Shakespeare on Vinyl, Google Update
Hi everybody,
This is a two-pronged message.
First Prong: At long last, years after I changed careers from
Shakespearean to internet guy, and weeks after I shipped most of my
award-winning Shakespeare book collection to Powells Books in Oregon
(www.powells.com), I'm finally turning my attentions to the vinyl. I
have some interesting stuff, including an old one disc Othello from
Dublin's Gate Theater with Michel MacLiammor as Othello (Iago in the
Orson Welles movie of the same play). There's a Much Ado directed by
Zefirelli for the National, a ton of Caedmons, Living Shakespeares and
more. I can put it all on eBay, but I'd rather sell this collection to
a real Shakespearean. So, if anybody reading this is interested, send
me a note and I'll send a full list.
Second Prong: I have made contact with the person in charge of Google's
Shakespeare page. If anybody is interested, they're open to linking to
short explanations of what the editions are all about. However, they
don't want to host the pages themselves. If Hardy would like to host
pages on SHAKSPER, he has first dibs (it won't be all that much
traffic). Otherwise, I'm sure individuals can start free Google Pages
for the purpose. Let me know if you'd like to write up a "what this
edition really is" piece for the curious. It should be about 300 words
and NOT written in litcritese.
BTW if you run into my spam filters, I'll get to you quickly so long as
there's a reasonable subject line.
All best,
Brad Berens
