Subject: Dedications to Printed Plays--
The First Folio is dedicated to the Earl of Pembroke.
How common would it be at this time for the printed text of a play to be
dedicated to someone, given the low esteem in which stage plays were held?
When is the printed text of an individual play first dedicated to an
eminent personage?
