Subject: Useful Reference Files for SHAKSPER Website
Dear SHAKSPEReans,
As I was editing the last digest - Films of Non-Shakespearean Plays - I
thought that it might be useful if someone were to volunteer to compile
the non-Shakespearean films mentioned in that
digest for mounting on the SHAKSPER
Website on the Reference Files page:
http://www.shaksper.net/archives/files/reference.html
I have recently updated a list that I have complied for my graduate
class "Shakespeare in Performance on Film and Television." The file
lists upwards to 95% of all Shakespeare productions realized for the
cinema and for television, as well as films of live stage productions,
that are currently available on DVD or that I have transferred to DVD
from VHS. I include director, country of origin, year, length of film,
major stars, and a sentence or two of comments. I compiled this list
with the help of the information from the Poor Yorick site, from Ken
Rothwell's A History of Shakespeare on Screen, and from the
information included with the DVD. I also have a separate list of The
BBC Television Shakespeare, Silent Shakespeares, and a highly selected
list of adaptations. I will also mount these files on the website if
members think they would be useful.
If you have an interest, please send me a private e-mail.
