Comment: SHK 18.0152 Rape of Lucrece: The Play
A full professional performance of 'The Rape of Lucrece' was mounted by
the Globe Playhouse of West Hollywood in 1990-91, directed by Theresa
Shiban and produced by Thad Taylor, with Eric Bryant Wells as Tarquin
and Hisa Takakuwa as Lucrece. This was not a written adaptation, but an
exact narrative of the poem spoken and dramatized by the actors. My
review, "The Rape of Lucrece Dramatized in Los Angeles," is in SQ 43,
no. 1 (Spring 1982): 86-9.

Ah, and Benjamin Britten's superb opera! If only Kathleen Ferrier had
recorded all of it!
