teacher, the critic
The CAPITAL Centre
University of Warwick
31 August - 2 September 2007
The CAPITAL Centre, a partnership created between the University and the
Royal Shakespeare Company, to explore the idea that the arts and
practices involved in making theatre are closely allied to those that
foster the best in many dimensions of teaching and learning. The
conference will offer opportunities to Shakespeare enthusiasts of all
kinds, academics, teachers, students, theatre practitioners and
theatre-goers to explore actively the choices made in interpreting
Shakespeare's texts in the classroom, on the page and on the stage.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Proposals are invited for panels, individual short papers (20 minutes)
and seminars on the theme of the conference. Please send abstracts of
between 150 and 200 words to

The CAPITAL Centre is a partnership between the Royal Shakespeare
Company and the University of Warwick. It uses theatre performance
skills and experience to enhance student learning and draws on
University research and resources to shape the development of the RSC's
acting companies.
The Centre's activities include
* New undergraduate and postgraduate courses
* Workshops/masterclasses with theatre practitioners
* RSC/Warwick International Playwright in Residence
* Warwick/RSC Fellows in Creativity and Performance
The CAPITAL Centre will foster a range of collaborations and disseminate
as widely as possible the range of innovation, excellence and excitement
provided by its core teaching and learning activities.
