As Editor for *Shakespeare Survey*, I am amazed how many submissions I
receive from people who seem never to have looked at an issue of the
journal and therefore submit essays that are either way too long (I once
received a piece of 30,000 words!) or way too short (for *Survey* does
not publish short notes). Such submissions are rejected without ever
having been sent out for peer-review. So my advice is: make sure your
article really is suitable, in its concerns but also in its length, for
the journal you are submitting to well before hitting the 'send' button.
