Subject: Mary and Elizabeth

Dear all

The new interdisciplinary Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Culture at
the University of Southampton is holding a conference on Mary I and
Elizabeth I, 10-12 September this year.

'Partners Both in Throne and Grave: Mary and Elizabeth - Lessons in
Tudor Monarchy' is being held at Chawton House in Hampshire, an
Elizabethan manor house that once belonged to Jane Austen's brother.

The conference kicks off with a concert of English and Spanish
sixteenth-century songs given by the acclaimed musicians Catherine Bott
(soprano) and Elizabeth Kenny (lute).

There is a call for papers: deadline 16 March.

Further details both about the Centre and the conference can be found
at: www.hip.humanities.soton.ac.uk/research/CMRC

Best wishes,
Ros King
