Subject: Regarding Emails on My Case
Dear Dr. Cook:
My name is Jared Sakren, and I recently came across your website and
various letters to you regarding my former employment at Arizona State
University during the 1990's and the litigation related to that. There
were many inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the letters and much of
the reporting was hearsay and rumor. However, while I cannot discuss
the case due to the details of my settlement with the university, I
would like the email string to include my statement on the issue (which
is public knowledge) and it goes like this: the university settled its
case with me on the eve of the verdict for a payment of $395,000, or the
equivalent of 6 years' salary. The university also made public
statements supporting my excellence as an artist and teacher. I am
currently the artistic director of the award-winning Southwest
Shakespeare Company in Phoenix (now in my 8th year) and the founding
artistic director of Shakespeare Sedona (now in our 10th year).
Bonnie Eckard, whose letter you include in your string of emails, is no
longer the Chair of the Department of Theatre, and was removed / stepped
down, soon after the above-mentioned settlement.
I think these facts speak for themselves.
