As a not infrequent user of the Centre library, I too was grateful for
Stanley Wells's clarification. I certainly would be/will be very sorry
if and when one can no longer use the reading room which, in my
experience, is one of the most attractive of spaces in which to conduct
research. I do wonder what the underlying motivation for bringing
together the two resources might be - I would guess (but perhaps I'm
wrong) that the vast majority of users go to one or the other, and only
rarely to both. Presumably, it is a matter of saving on staff costs in
supervising one room rather than two?
