Subject: Seeking Guest Moderator
I have enjoyed the posts of the past few weeks; they represent to me the
kinds of exchanges of this list at its best. Perhaps, there is a lesson
here for me.
One of the criticisms of the Roundtable format I received was that some
members preferred the immediacy of the daily posts, not wishing to wait
a week between sending a submission and hearing responses to it or vice
versa.
On the other hand, I liked the Roundtable format because it encouraged,
I hoped, reflection - time to think about the issue; time to read,
research, and ponder; time to write about it; time to revise; and so on.
I asked if anyone wished to volunteer to guest moderate a Roundtable on
the writings of Terence Hawkes or for that matter to guest moderate a
Roundtable topic of one's choice. No one has responded. Maybe it's my
timing with the fall term here in the northern hemisphere beginning;
maybe the idea of guest moderating is too overwhelming for our already
overburdened members; or maybe the Roundtable is simply not most
people's discursive mode of choice.
Whatever the case may be, I ask again if any member feels moved to
volunteer to be a guest moderator of a Roundtable discussion or to share
your thoughts about the Roundtable format with me privately.
