Subject: October's Tempest Weblog
Hello-
Here's a monthly update of our weekly journal on the creation of a live
theatrical animation of Shakespeare's The Tempest, to be produced by Sonoma
County Repertory and The Independent Eye in Sebastopol, CA, next September.
Please visit this weblog at http://www.independenteye.org/news/index.html. It
includes sketches and, in the future, audio & video. The cumulative backlog is
there as well. And please add comments: we much welcome response at every stage
of this trek.
Tempest #7 - 10/27 - Where Do We Start?
Alice and Prospero, with rogues' gallery. Workshop preparations, actor
expectations, and wearing warm shoes.
Tempest #6 - 10/20 - My Egret
Speaking Shakespeare in the body of a survivalist. Finding his world in our
California pasturage. A white egret's vigilance. Ariel & freedom.
Tempest #5 - 10/13 - Why Puppets?
Questioning the medium. Dream texture, verbal expressionism, magical fluidity,
and blunt reality. Greenaway's visions. Rough scenic designs, weathered canvas
and the landscape of innards.
Tempest #4 - 10/6 - Money & Fools
Royal patronage denied. Court fools: Trinculo as the "natural." Stephano and
Jack Cade. The formation of the guerrilla comedy team.
Peace & joy-
Conrad Bishop
