Subject: 19.0614 Gonzalo Question
Comment: Re: SHK 19.0614 Gonzalo Question
For what it's worth I would second this, also having played Gonzalo in the past:
in some ways the speech _itself_ does feel a bit drawn out to me, and were it
only a matter of cutting the speech, I could almost see it. What kills it for me
is when I realize that cutting the speech necessitates cutting out the line just
following (i.e. "and yet he'd be king on't"), which creates a perfect
counterpoint to Gonzalo's drawn-out pontificating. I have a hard time imagining
either Gonzalo's or Antonio and Sebastian's characters working quite as well
thereafter with that exchange missing.
