Subject: "Makibefo" Now Available on DVD

I just released the DVD version of Alexander Abela's debut film "Makibefo," an
adaptation of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" set in Madagascar. The film was initially
produced in 1999, but apart from a number of festival screenings and a limited
release in France the film so far has not been available to a wider audience.
All going well, I am planning to make this film the first of an entire series of
independently produced Shakespeare adaptations. The DVD features subtitles in
English, German, French, Spanish, and Portuguese as well as a 12-page booklet.
The DVD may be bought online directly from my webshop and is priced at 19.95 EUR
(excl. p&p).

Kind regards,

Makibefo -- A film by Alexander Abela based on William Shakespeare's Macbeth
United Kingdom 1999 | 73 minutes | black & white | DVD PAL 4:3 (1:1.66) | code
free Language: Malagasy/English Subtitles: Deutsch, English, English for the
hearing-impaired, Espanol, Francais, Portugues

For his first feature film, Alexander Abela went against all the advice of
seasoned professionals by going off to Madagascar with a crew of just two and
film an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Macbeth with local tribesmen and
women as actors. As location they chose Faux-Cap, an isolated community of
Antandroy fishermen at the southernmost tip of the island. It is to these people
-- most of whom had never seen a film before, let alone a television -- that
Alexander suggested devising Makibefo: The tale of a man's quest for power
through bloody ambition.
