John Barton's book `Playing Shakespeare' is available online through
www.amazon.co.uk.
The nine-part series which the book supports was produced by London
Weekend Television and first broadcast on the UK's Channel 4 in 1984.
The tapes have been out of distribution for many years but copies can be
consulted in archives, for example the Folger Shakespeare Library or the
British Film Institute National Archive.
I know of no one source for the whole package.

I bought mine from the Poor Yorick shop in Canada. They are released by
the Films for the Humanities establishment which is based in America and
can be ordered from there. It took me years to track down a source, so I
hope this helps you get to them more quickly! They are pure gold!
Best,
Jan Pick
