Subject: SAA 2009 and Upcoming SHAKSPER Service Upgrade
I enjoyed this year's SAA enormously. I expect that there will be
forthcoming some interesting posts regarding video projects, editions,
web sites, and more that I learned about during the convention.
In addition, to the intellectual stimulation of the presentations and
conversations, I, as many others I am sure, relished seeing old friends
and colleagues.
Further SHAKSPER news, I am changing service providers and will be
getting a fiber optics line to replace my commercial DSL. This service
will greatly improve speed for anyone reading or downloading content
from the archives at the SHAKSPER web site and server. I will be
upgrading from 756 Kbps up and down to 20 Mbps up and down. I cannot
remember my mathematics well enough to tell you how much faster in
percent this increase will be, but I can assure you that service will be
significantly improved depending on how fast you can download from your
end.
I will be working closely with Eric Luhrs, SHAKSPER's technical guru, to
insure that the move is as seamless as possible, but there undoubtedly
will be some time when you will not be able to reach me or SHAKSPER at
our addresses. SHAKSPER's static IP address will change from
12.101.12.90 to another yet to be announced static IP address, but we
should remain at these familiar addresses:

The change in service providers will occur sometime after April 16, but
I will retain my AT&T service as long as is necessary to maintain a
smooth transition to Verizon Fiber Optics service.
This change is yet another improvement in SHAKSPER service, improvements
that I hope will continue as I am able to dedicate more time to the list
now that I am retiring.
