Subject: Sanders Portrait of Shakespeare at University of Ottawa
Conference
Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that an agreement in principle has been
reached to display the Sanders portrait of Shakespeare in conjunction
with the _Wartime Shakespeare in a Global Context/Shakespeare au temps
de la guerre conference_ (September 18 to 20, 2009). This follows many
months of negotiations with the owner, Lloyd Sullivan, and the War
Museum. Because of security, insurance, and environmental concerns (as
well as costs!), the portrait will be displayed at the Museum.
Registered conference participants will receive free tickets to the
Museum to view the portrait and to attend a question-and-answer session.
Complete details will be posted very shortly on the conference website
at www.wartimeshakespeare.uottawa.ca. Registration details may also be
found on the website.
Also, please note that the House of Commons security services require
that we provide them with a list of those who will be attending the
conference banquet on the Hill by August 18. Should you be contemplating
attending, please make sure that you register well before that date.
With thanks,
Irene (Irena) Makaryk
