Subject:    New Year's Greetings

Dear SHAKSPEReans,

I wish everyone greetings for the New Year. SHAKSPER measures its years 
of service based upon the calendar year, so we are now entering our 
twenty-first year of service.

Apologies for the long hiatus. As many know, I have had many challenges 
over the past five years. As it turns out, others keep rearing their 
ugly heads to further complicate things, but I endure.

In addition, I was away for a week at the end of the year and returned 
to 1,500 messages in my Inbox. Of course, 98% were the spam that members 
do not see since this is a moderated list with many levels of security 
so that only I can post and only from a limited number of machines. 
Unfortunately, the major one had a bad hard drive in the RAID array, 
causing me other problems to occupy my time. Then the large number of 
messages simply was more than I could bear until now. Apologies.

I am back for the time being now. But it will take me some time to catch 
up with all my correspondences.
