The Shakespeare Conference: SHK 21.0050 Saturday, 30 January 2010
Date: Saturday, January 30, 2010
At the risk of misusing the term portmanteau, which I recall I am using in the sense that it is used by Humpty Dumpty in his lecture/explication, I title this a portmanteau because it has more than one thing packed into it.
Well, today's was my first set of digests using my iMac and new software and programs. I had to do all of the formatting without the benefit of my macros and thus the process was considerably time consuming and the results do not have the consistent look that I have been striving to create since I assumed this position. My initial response to Mac Word is that I don't like it as much as I do the Windows version, but with familiarity I am sure my opinion will change as will my ability to produce digests that have an appealing appearance when created with the ASCII character set.
I would like to thank all of those who have written to me over the past few weeks about computer problems, about being a Mac person (Go! STEVE! Go!, but were there any women in the room when you approved the name of the latest Apple device?), and about my being honored by my University. Normally, I would respond to each and every note I receive, but the number and the time I have prohibits my doing so. So, everyone, Thank you all for your kind words. I deeply appreciate them. They are, in many ways, what keeps me going.
