[1]-----------------------------------------------------------------
>On Saturday evening on our way home after seeing the Shakespeare Just so you know, I am now completely immersed in the Twitter R&J which is backed up with YouTube video, audio, and websites, one of which summarizes the daily action. @JulietCap16 has over 4000 followers on Twitter as of 2pm est 4/14/10. Every now and then, a tiny moment of the poetry creeps in. Otherwise, it is pure soap opera with the barebones of the original plot. And I like SHAKSPER exactly as it is. I hate change. [Editor's Note: Let me assure Abigail and anyone else who might be worried, there will be no change to the way you receive SHAKSPER postings. I am committed to maintaining SHAKSPER as a listserv list, using L-Soft's listserv software -- a commercial product for which I purchase a license every year. What my posting was in regards to was possible features for the new design for the SHAKSPER web site www.shaksper.net. I will have more to announce in the future, but the plan is to design the site using Joomla, "Joomla is an award-winning content management system (CMS), which enables you to build Web sites and powerful online applications. Many aspects, including its ease-of-use and extensibility, have made Joomla the most popular Web site software available." <http://www.joomla.org/> You can see many examples of Joolma sites at its showcase: http://community.joomla.org/showcase/ I am genuinely interested in hearing from subscribers about features they would like to see at the new SHAKPSER web site. Many of the designs at the Showcase pages are too busy for my taste. I like the design of The Dickey Center at Dartmouth: http://dickey.dartmouth.edu Again, I don't plan to make a thread about this topic, but I welcome any messages or ideas subscribers would like to share privately with me. Thanks. -Hardy]
[2]------------------------------------------------------------- I will never see it. After a month or so with a Facebook account, I grew tired of constant requests to give people pigs or take a test to see what my accent revealed and canceled it. I'm of the same mind as George Clooney on these types of social network websites: http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20304800,00.html Tom Reedy
[3]------------------------------------------------------------- Follow up to comments on RSS feed This is an example of my set-up, with the Guardian Review RSS feed displayed as a drop-down menu. Imagine the joy of seeing the latest Shakposts in such a format! http://www.shaksper.net/~hcook/pix.jpg [Editor's Note: I send SHAKSPER posts out in pure ASCII without attachments. I do this because plain text is readable across all computer platforms and remains the most stable approach for archiving discussions for any future changes in technologies. However, since a picture is worth a (well, you know the clich?), I have mounted Alex's screen capture at the following: http://www.shaksper.net/~hcook/pix.jpg. Having the ability to quickly load images or even video clips and so on at the web site is one of the many reasons I am looking forward to having the updated web design. -Hardy]
