Wilde and coward are quite difficult. Shaw wears his difficulty on the outside so
people hesitate to produce him. W and C project ease and occlude depth. So hapless
thespian lambs go to the critics slaughter. Shakespeare is a whole different problem
I think. Most playwrights you must reach for in preparation, discover and indulge.
Shakespeare has already started charging toward you after the first line. You can't
look for him. He's already here.
