Before a yet lengthier thread on this subject takes wing, we ought to await publication of Tiffany Stern's forthcoming article on Cardenio which is likely to set the cat rather murderously among the pigeons. She gave a version of it at the Chichester University 'Puzzles' conference last October and those who heard it will understand why caution should be urged.
