I just watched the very interesting YouTube movie on neuroscience and Shakespeare.  It struck me that the four great tragedies, Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, and King Lear, all revolve around significant mental illnesses or, at least, aberrations.  Has anyone thought or written on this?
