Can't speak to "these days", but I clearly remember, ca. 1963, in 9th-grade English, being shown a promotional piece for the 1953 "Knights of the Round Table" (which went into considerable detail on the use of anamorphic lenses in the Cinemascope process), in connection, I think, with Tennyson.
