Subject: First Online Course: Getting to Know Shakespeare
On behalf of The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, I'm delighted to announce the launch of our free on-line Shakespeare course, 'Getting to Know Shakespeare.' We're keen to share our passion for Shakespeare as widely as possible and are grateful to The Arden Shakespeare for sponsoring the course.
The course is intended for anyone with a general interest in Shakespeare: perhaps you've visited one of the Shakespeare houses in Stratford-upon-Avon, perhaps you like watching Shakespeare in the theatre or on film occasionally, or perhaps you're a high-school student, teacher or undergraduate looking for ways to further your interest.
'Getting to Know Shakespeare' is made up of video and audio posts, it's presented by me, and includes some special guests from the world of the theatre and Shakespeare scholarship. Some of these were filmed in places closely associated with Shakespeare, and the course also includes items of interest from the Shakespeare Centre Library and Archive.
You can browse through the course at your own pace (all of it is made available all at once), but it's structured so that everyone who signs up receives a supporting e-mail from me each week for ten weeks to guide them through the different sections.
I hope you might like to sign up for 'Getting to Know Shakespeare' and that you might like to recommend it to your friends and contacts too.
Simply go to www.gettingtoknowshakespeare.com and take it from there.
All best wishes,
Head of Research and Knowledge
