My doctorate (awarded last year, readers included Barbara Hodgdon) includes a chapter discussing performance of Romeo and Juliet on stage and film, including Baz Luhrmann and Zeffirelli's movies, and an RSC production directed by Nancy Meckler. It might be helpful for students. I'd be happy to send you a copy of the chapter, as yet unpublished.
