Hi all,
Some years ago, I heard a scholar (I think it was Lisa Jardine) argue that The King's Men was a source of liquid cash for the British East India Company since it was a cash operation with massive daily traffic. If I'm remembering this correctly, then Lisa was citing a scholarly work, but my attempts to track it down have proven fruitless.
Does this strike a chord for anybody? I searched the SHAKSPER archives as well to see if we'd discussed this earlier but didn't find anything.
Best wishes, Brad
