Comment: Re: SHK 17.0943 Jensen Collection
I don't know if Mike Jensen realizes the magnitude of the wave that
might crash over him. I have several hundred pieces of "Shakespeareana"
in my office (and about that many at home, too), ranging from thimbles,
ties, T-shirts, and pillowcases to miniature cars with everything else
you can imagine--including that familiar rubber duckie. And that is not
counting all the goofy books and DVDs I have collected over the years.
My colleague Sheila Cavanagh has a large accretion of Shakespeare junk
as well, and we do not have many duplicates.
I am ashamed to admit that I also have a collection of about 8,000 (give
or take a thousand) postcards that depict every imaginable aspect of
Shakespeare's life and his plays. My wife just shakes her head, but I
remind her of people I know who collect manhole covers and hubcaps. One
friend has a collection of vacuum cleaners so vast that he rents storage
space where he can keep them. At least I can put my collection of
Shakespeare cards in shoe boxes.
Good luck, Mr. Jensen!
