As I have had to remind Terence Hawkes before, it was Wuthering Heights in Semaphore, and Julius Caesar on an Aldis Lamp.

[Alston James] saw a production of the Lear in question at Lincoln Center a few years back. Indeed, a lone actor did play the king and his daughters in a way that broadened [his] understanding of the work and floored the audience.

 

I would be grateful if Mr. James let us know what his understanding was before and after he saw that production.
