Subject:     Play Reviews

Dear SHAKSPEReans,

Recently, I floated the idea of having subscribers share brief reviews/accounts of performances of the various plays that are available in the Northern Hemisphere during the summer months.

Out of this discussion, I began a list that I intend to update every time that I received additions or corrections to the list. I changed the name of the list from Summer Shakespeare Plays and Festivals to simply Shakespeare Plays and Festivals:

According to the list, many plays are in performance at this time. For example, the New York Times today has a review of the Comedy of Errors at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park:

Shakespeare at Large in Runyonland

By Charles Isherwood

By the time the gun-toting nuns make an appearance, you may find that you’re out of belly laughs. Rally those abs, if possible, because there is more fun to come in the brisk (90 minutes!) and buoyant production of “The Comedy of Errors” at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, with the sterling team of Hamish Linklater and Jesse Tyler Ferguson doubling down as Shakespeare’s two sets of long-lost twins.

I would like to encourage subscribers to review plays they see and post them on SHAKSPER. After being posted on SHAKSPER, the reviews will be shared with the Internet Shakespeare Chronicle: http://isechronicle.uvic.ca/

Enjoy.

Hardy
